Dr. Amalendu Ghosh (Life Membership No G0013) passed away on 21 st December 2011. He joined the Indian Railway Medical Services in 1956 and retired as Divisional Medical Officer (Anaesthesia) from B. R. Singh Hospital, Eastern Railway, Kolkata in 1987. He did his PG in Anaesthesia from Christian Medical College, Vellore.

He had a typical Bangladeshi sense of humour which broke through in all his interactions, whether official or personal. While in medical service, he refused to undertake private practice in any form and refused all kinds of 'gifts' that came in the hope of better treatment. Progressive, humane, generous and just, he was a man of vision whose only religion was humanity.

What he enjoyed most, however, was his long association with Students' Health Home (a voluntary Organisation for Students' Medicare), its canteen, staff and patients, where he could feel green forever.
